The LMVA Foot Patrol is responsible for patrolling all trails of the Laguna Recreation Area. We hike in groups of two or more wearing official uniforms and carry a radio to report emergencies, and carry water, maps, and first aid supplies. We're there to answer questions, check trail conditions and educate the public on regulations for the area. Contact: Bill at info@lmva.org.

The LMVA Bike Patrol consists of mountain bike riders of various abilities. We conduct patrols on all Laguna Recreation trails, except Sunset Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. As we contact people on the trails, we answer questions, provide water, first aid articles and directions if needed. We also educate the public on Recreation Area regulations. We wear official uniforms and ride our own bikes. We carry hand-held two-way radios to report emergencies. In the unlikely event that a Bike Patrol volunteer is injured while patrolling, medical expenses will be covered by the Forest Service. At the end of each patrol, we submit a report to the Forest Service detailing the number of hikers, bikers, horses, hunters and dogs encountered during the day. This helps the USFS to determine area usage. We also report any problems we find, e.g. blocked trails, downed trees, fences in need of repair and broken signs. The LMVA Mounted Patrol provides information, education and assistance to Laguna trail visitors. We ride as a small group and carry extra water, first-aid kits, radios to report emergencies, and maps of the area. We report the number and type of trail users (hikers, bicyclists, horseback riders, hunters), trail conditions and any unusual occurrences. Each member of the Mounted Patrol is asked to participate at least one day a month, preferably on weekends. Each patrol must provide their own horse. Contact: John at info@lmva.org
