points: 1.8 miles N of I-8 on Sunrise Highway Description:
This is a short informal trail leading off Sunrise Highway to the east, beginning
at the north end of the guard rail at the large gravel turnout 0.10 mi S of mile
marker 15.5. The trail descends sharply through thick chaparral until it opens
onto an old construction road under the power lines, and continues downward to
an oak wooded area where the trail splits. To get to the falls, take a sharp left
and follow the path to and up the narrow canyon, staying on the left side. Immediately
a series of cascades and small pools come into view, and then the falls. Here,
water gathers from above, slides down an 8-10 foot incline into a deep pool, then
flows downhill toward the main canyon. The feeling here is of remoteness and tranquility.
Note: this trail is not managed by the Forest Service. It is not marked or maintained.
