| The Visitor Information Center is located 40 miles east of San Diego on Interstate 8, then 10 miles north on Sunrise Highway (S1). Beginning Memorial Day weekend it is open Friday (1-4), Saturday (9-5) and Sunday (9-4), through Labor Day weekend. Winter hours are Saturday (9-3), Sunday (10-3) and Friday (hours vary). Nestled among pines in the village of Mt. Laguna, the VIC is a source of information for the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area. Adventure Passes ($5/day; $30 annual; second vehicle pass $5 with purchase of annual pass) can be purchased at the VIC. No Adventure Pass required south of Interstate 8. | ||||||||||||||||

The VIC has a variety of wildlife displays including a stuffed mountain lion, coyote, eagle and fox. Here, kids can touch the skins of many animals and see our furry, feathered and four-legged local residents. They can peer into a woodpecker nest hidden in a detachable tree stump, or count the age rings in a cross-cut section of a big old pine trunk. The VIC is a welcome place to rest in the shade of the pines after a hot summer hike, or warm yourself by the fire after a day of playing in the snow. Plenty of local and regional maps as well as books and gift items are stocked and available for purchase.
For further information, see the Cleveland National Forest Service website.
